Valerie Huens

 

Valerie has worked as a professional psychologist in both the community sector and private sector since 2004.  Valerie has worked with individuals and families in the areas of intellectual disability, workers compensation, adolescent trauma and the school sector. In these roles Valerie has provided therapy for children, adolescents, adults and families.

 

Valerie has a warm, compassionate, non-judgmental, caring and authentic approach to her work.  She enjoys working collaboratively with her clients and those who support them. She is especially passionate about working with women and their families.

Now established in private practice, Valerie can support you with anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment to life changes, self-harm, trauma, peri/post-natal issues, eating disorders, behavioural problems and school issues. She has experience in a variety of interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-based Interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative therapy, and EFT (tapping). 

Valerie has a special interest in parenting and attachment, and facilitates group workshops aimed at improving the skill repertoire and emotional intelligence of parents, including Tuning into Kids and Triple P.

 

Valerie is a psychologist who is also a qualified supervisor, providing supervision to interns and registered psychologists.
